Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a kid. I have always enjoyed taking pictures of people in natural environments without a posed look. In college, I developed an affinity for nature and landscape photography. Thousands of rolls of film passed through my cameras as I learned the fundamentals of exposure and composition. I spent hours in the darkroom processing black and white film and making prints.
I began photographing weddings when a friend, knowing I had all the right camera equipment, asked me to photograph her wedding. I discovered a new joy in photography and have been focused on it since. I love being a part of such an important event for people and giving them images to cherish forever.
As a high school technology education teacher, I have the opportunity to teach subjects such as desktop publishing and video production. I enjoy teaching others about photography, graphic design, video editing, and the fun of Photoshop. I am lucky to be able to apply my love of photography in two professions!
Being a teacher and a full-time photographer is not easy at times. I do limit how much photography I take on so that I do not lose focus on either of my professions. I couldn't do it without my wonderful wife, Tara. She handles all of the business side of things, is a master of retouching in Photoshop, and is my chief album designer. We make a pretty good team!
